ABB state that their inverters do not use RoCoF or VS loss of mains. ALoMCP believes there is no adjustment to make on ABB inverters. It is the owner’s responsibility to confirm that this advice is applicable to their equipment. ABB have published this information and a list of their inverter types. The ABB inverter business was bought by FIMER in 2020.

Afore

Alstom Wind Turbines  

The Alstom wind turbine business was acquired by GE. GE states that all Alstom wind turbines should be compliant by default, but owners can confirm this by contacting GE at the link below.

Bonus  

The Bonus wind turbine business was sold to Siemens.

C&F Wind Turbines  

C&F Wind Turbines are no longer trading. However all their wind turbines are expected to include a Loss of Mains relays which need to be reset.

Delta Electronics  

Delta Electronics inverters do not use RoCoF or VS loss of mains. ALoMCP believes there is no adjustment to make on Delta Electronic’s inverters. It is the owner’s responsibility to confirm this.

Diehl  

Diehl and Diehl Platinum inverters do not use RoCoF or VS and Diehl have confirmed that frequency protection settings are compliant with the requirements for GB. ALoMCP believes there is no adjustment needed to be made on Diehl inverters. It is the owner’s responsibility to confirm their equipment is compliant.

Elpower  

Elpower have confirmed that Elpower inverters do not intrinsically have RoCoF or vector shift protection included in the inverter controlling software etc. However, Elpower have always included an ABB CM.UFD.M33(M) protection relay as part of the installation for G59 compliance. The ABB relay needs to be reset in accordance with the attached application note (excluding menus “Nominal voltage” and “I/O setup”). It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure that this is done by an appropriately competent person

Eltek  

The Programme believes that all Eltek Theia and Plantinum inverters did not use RoCoF or VS techniques and therefore there are no adjustments to be made. It is the owners responsibility to confirm this for their inverters.

Emergya Wind Technologies (EWT)  

EWT turbines incorporate a loss of mains relay in the control system of the wind turbines. EWT turbines are not double fed induction generators, nor synchronously connected, and hence where these relays cannot be reset to be compliant with EREC G59, the loss of mains function can be disabled.

Emerson Electric  

Emerson have been taken over by Nidec Industrial. Owners of Emerson equipment will need to contact Nidec Industrial to discuss compliance issues on a case by case basis.

Enercon  

State that inverters do not use VS or RoCoF. However many (but not all) Enercon devices have a separate relay which provides LoM functions and will need to be confirmed compliant and/or reset by a competent person. Enercon can be contacted to advise on what is required at each installation.

Enphase  

Enphase Energy has confirmed that their M-Series microinverter products can have their Grid Profile settings updated such that RoCoF or vector shift loss of mains techniques are not used. To achieve this an Envoy-S running software version 4.4 or higher must be installed at the site and the UK G59-3-7:2019 M-Series (ver 1.0.14 or higher) Grid Profile must be applied to the microinverters via Enlighten or the Enphase Installer Toolkit App.

It is the system owner's responsibility to organise for these settings to be changed on their installation. In the first instance it is recommended that the original installer is contacted. For further guidance please contact Enphase Customer Support team at the link below.

FIMER

Fronius  

Fronius inverters do not use RoCoF or VS loss of mains. ALoMCP believes there is no adjustment to make on Fronius inverters. It is the owner’s responsibility to confirm this.

Fronius recommend that older inverters are upgraded to the latest firmware. Whilst desirable this is not necessary for compliance with G59/3 and the Programme will make no payments towards such changes.

GE Solar Inverters  

The Programme believes that the LV5 series of solar inverters does not have any loss of mains protection included in the inverter. The inverters do have frequency settings, and these must be confirmed to be compliant with G59/3-7 (or with G99). It is the owner's responsibility to confirm that all settings are compliant.

GE Wind Energy  

GE have indicated that their wind turbines by default are compliant. However owners of GE wind turbines can contact GE via their website to confirm that all settings actually in use are also compliant.

Growatt  

Growatt have stated that their inverters prior to July 2018 do not use RoCoF or VS loss of mains. The Programme believes there is therefore no adjustment needed on Growatt inverters. It remains the owner’s responsibility to ensure compliance with G59.

Helios

Huawei  

Huawei confirm that RoCoF is switched off by default, and that there is no Vector Shift. Owners will need to confirm that RoCoF remains switched off or is set to correct values.

Ingeteam  

Ingeteam state that their inverters do not use RoCoF or VS loss of mains. ALoMCP therefore believes there is no adjustment to make on Ingeteam inverters. It is the owner’s responsibility to confirm this.

Kinglong New Energy Technology    (awaiting information from the manufacturer)
LTI ReEnergy  

Owners of LTI inverters can interrogate their inverters via a web browser to check the settings. If the settings need to be corrected, a password is needed to make the changes and the Programme believes that this can be obtained from LTI ReEnergy at https://www.lti-reenergy.com/

Mastervolt  

The Programme believes that Mastervolt inverters up to 20kVA rating are compliant and need no adjustment. The Programme has no information relating to Mastervolt inverters of sizes greater than 20kVA.

It remains the owner’s responsibility to ensure their equipment is compliant.

Mita Teknik  

Mita Teknik supply controllers/control systems for wind turbines, with frequency settings within the controllers being set by the wind turbine manufacturer or by the installer as part of the commissioning process. Some Mita Teknik controllers include loss of mains protection. Owners of Mita Teknik controllers with loss of mains (eg vector shift) will need to contact Mita Teknik for advice on how these settings can be made compliant with G59. Confirmation of the frequency settings can be undertaken by installers/contractors familiar with Mita Teknik controllers, but the loss of mains or anti-islanding protection needs to be referred to Mita Teknik. Nordex  

Nordex have a protection relay within each WTG. Nordex are reviewing the settings on the N43, N50 and N60 WTGs and all other turbine types on sites installed pre 2007 and will contact each customer with the proposed changes if required.

WTG types N80, N90, N100 Post 2007 installations the requirements of ALoM are met and no changes are required.

Northern Power Systems (wind turbines)  

Northern Power Systems has sold its business in GB to Natural Generation.

Power Electronics  

The manufacturer has confirmed that RoCoF setting is an option, and that vector shift is not used. All units for GB are thought to have been shipped with RoCoF set to off. The manufacturer has confirmed that it is possible to confirm on site by interrogating the inverter – please contact the manufacturer for details. It is the owner’s responsibility to confirm the compliance of these inverters with G59.

Power One Aurora

Refusol  

Refusol inverters made in or before 2016: Refusol inverters used to be made by AEI-Advanced Energy Industries until February 2016. All AEI Refusol units need a firmware change to be compliant with G59/3-7. Please see the AEI entry on these pages for more information.

Refusol inverters made in or after 2016: These Refusol inverters do not use RoCoF or VS loss of mains. Therefore there is no adjustment necessary on these inverters. It is the owner’s responsibility to confirm that the inverters are Refusol and not AEI-Refusol.

To aid identifying whether this is an AEI-Refusol inverter or a post February 2016 Refusol inverter, look for the manufacturer's type label which will show if the unit is AEI or Refusol.

REpower

Riello/Aros  

Aros Solar Technology, will advise owners of the implications of the revised G59/3-7 requirements on a case by case basis. Owners of Aros Solar Technology inverters should contact Riello at [email protected] who will be able to advise on what is required for their inverters.”

SAJ (Guangzhou Sanjing Electric Co)  

SAJ has confirmed that SAJ inverters do not use RoCoF or vector shift. The Programme believes there are no adjustments to make to SAJ inverters.

Samil Power UK  

The Programme believes that all Samil Power inverters of 30kW rating or less do not use RoCoF or VS and are expected to be compliant with G59. It is the owner's responsibility to confirm this in each case.

Senvion  

Business was sold to Siemens

Siemens  

Siemens SINVERT inverters were all supplied to individual order and individually set up by Siemens for the installation. Owners of Siemens SINVERT inverters can contact Siemens support to find out if and how they can be made compliant with G59/3-7. Inquiries can be directed to the Siemens support portal below.

SMA  

SMA states that most of its inverters have not used RoCoF or VS loss of mains. Some SMA badged inverters (originally made by Danfoss) do have RoCoF settings. ALoMCP believes there is no adjustment to make on the majority of SMA inverters. However it is the owner’s responsibility to confirm this. SMA have provided a list of compliant inverters, and those that need modifying, on their website at the link below.

Sofar Solar  

Sofar Solar have confirmed that their inverters do not use RoCoF or vector shift. The Programme believes that Sofar Solar inverters are compliant, although compliance with the requirements remains the responsibility of the owner.

Solaredge  

SolarEdge photovoltaic inverters connected under G59 do need to be updated with new settings. This can be done by the original installer or any SolarEdge agent. SolarEdge will be contacting installers of affected equipment about these changes. Further information can be found on the SolarEdge website below.

Domestic type inverters connected under G83 are not affected by the programme and need no changes.

SolaX  

SolaX have confirmed that inverters supplied to the GB market before July 2018 when set to GB settings (ie G59) did not use either RoCoF or vector shift for loss of mains protection. Therefore the Programme believes there is no adjustment necessary on SolaX inverters. It is the owner’s responsibility to confirm compliance.

Sungrow  

Sungrow state that the majority of its inverters do not use RoCoF or VS protection. It is the owner’s responsibility to confirm compliance in each case.

In addition to the SG20KTL-M that is listed as not having RoCoF or vector shift in the attached Sungrow declaration, the Programme has learned that the following Sungrow inverters also do not have RoCoF or vector shift: SG8KTLM; SG10KTLM; SG12KTLM; SG15KTLM; SG17KTLM.

Sunways  

Models NT10000, 11000, 12000 EU should be set by default to GB in which case RoCoF and VS settings are believed to be deactivated. It is the owner's responsibility to confirm this.

Tesla  

Tesla have stated that their Powerwall devices do not use RoCoF or vector shift for loss of mains protection. Compliance with G59 remains the responsibility of the owner.
